Student Council

BELS Student Council is the voice of the student body and offers representatives the opportunity to develop their leadership skills
while planning and organizing activities and events. The goal is to encourage students to be concerned global citizens, to improve
school spirit and to raise awareness of local, national and international issues.

Each class K-12 has a representative who is elected by their classmates at the beginning of each school year. Students K-G6
are informed about student council activities by their teacher advisor. Students G7-G12 attend weekly meetings and relay
information back to their homeroom classes.

The president is elected by high school students after campaigning and participating in a debate with all candidates.
The election takes place according to MEB regulations. Once elected, the president conducts weekly meetings with the
G7-G12 students to brainstorm ideas for projects.

The president also meets regularly with the BELS Leadership Team to discuss activities and events that the student council
would like to accomplish. Any funds raised by the student council are used for charitable causes.
